Mac OS X classes will be held in conjunction with Computerfest, the primary fund-raiser for the Dayton Microcomputer Association (DMA). The event will be held in Dayton, Ohio, on Aug. Dont let them die (yiokse) mac os. 23-24 at the Dayton Hara Arena. The Mac OS X classes will be held prior to Computerfest itself and will take place at the Hara Arena Convention Center.

The courses are being held as a way for the DMA to help meet the needs of the IT community as well as the general public, according to Gary Mullins, co-chair of Computerfest. Created by Apple technical curriculum developers, all classes are taught by Mac OS X experts, he said. Class fees include a ticket to Computerfest that’s good for all the weekend’s activities. The following Mac OS X classes are being offered:

  • “Getting Started with Mac OS X 10.2,” a US$299, one-day course offered on both Aug. 18 and Aug. 19. Participants will learn to use the new features of Mac OS X 10.2 (“Jaguar”), with special tips provided for Mac OS 9 users and PC switchers moving to Mac OS X.
  • “Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server Essentials,” a five-day course that runs Aug. 18-22. Early bird registration is $2,299 per person through July 27 and $2,499 per person afterward. The course will provide the skills, tools, and knowledge to implement and maintain a Mac OS X-based system and configure stand-alone workstations to access network-based services.
  • “Troubleshooting Mac OS X,” a three-day course held Aug. 20-22. Early bird registration is $1,399 per person through July 27 and $1,499 per person afterward. This class is designed to offer the skills, tools, and knowledge to deploy and maintain a Mac OS X-based system. It provides the theory and practice for troubleshooting a variety of representative problems on Mac OS X client workstations.
  • “Mac OS X Client Management,” a two-day course on Aug. 18-19. Early bird registration is $574 per person through July 27 and $599 per person afterward. System administrators and network engineers will learn how to plan, set up, and manage Mac OS X-based systems using Mac OS X client management techniques and tools including Mac OS X Server, Workgroup Manager, NetBoot, Network Install, and Apple Remote desktop.
