I have installed and played G1, 2, and 3 using the porting kit app on my mac. I highly recommend, as this was the only solution that ended up working in my case. I couldn't believe it when Gothic actually booted on my native Macbook pro, that was true happiness.

If you don’t own the game yet, get Gothic 2 from GOG.com which is DRM free there and runs out of the box. Click on the links mentioned here, create an account using the signup in the top bar on the GOG.com website and buy the game. You automatically get when creating an account 14 free GOG games (+ some dlc’s) added to your account so you have nothing to loose, only to receive! Make sure the setup file is downloaded into your download folder before running the Crosstie, so that Crossover recognizes the file and launches the setup automatically.
Use this CrossTie… to install the GOG game into Crossover
Make sure Crossover is installed before downloading/running the CrossTie. Or use Porting Kit.
Important: The files: vdfs32e.exe and vdfs32d.exe are not needed and needs to be deleted after installation of the game into the wrapper. You can find it int the wrapper (Rightclick wrapper –> show package content –> c_drive –> program files –> navigate to gothic game folder –> system –> and delete the 2 files. In the same folder you also have to replace the gothic.ini file with the one brought with the wrapper (iMac or Macbook gothic.ini version). Then you are done and ready to play!

Remarks
If command extensions are enabled (the default), and you use the goto command with a target label of :EOF, you transfer control to the end of the current batch script file and exit the batch script file without defining a label. When you use this command with the :EOF label, you must insert a colon before the label. For example:
goto:EOF.You can use spaces in the label parameter, but you can't include other separators (for example, semicolons (;) or equal signs (=)).
The label value that you specify must match a label in the batch program. The label within the batch program must begin with a colon (:). If a line begins with a colon, it's treated as a label and any commands on that line are ignored. If your batch program doesn't contain the label that you specify in the label parameter, then the batch program stops and displays the following message:
Label not found.You can use goto with other commands to perform conditional operations. For more information about using goto for conditional operations, see the if command.
